Danielle Meachum, M.Ed., BCBA, LBA

Danielle Meachum is the founder of Unique Steps ABA, LLC, a private practice on Oahu, Hawaii, providing compassionate, individualized, and evidence-based ABA services for individuals and families. She supports learners of all ages in building meaningful skills and independence, one unique step at a time.

Danielle has over 20 years of experience in the field of applied behavior analysis, providing services across in-home, clinic, school, and community settings, and has been a board certified behavior analyst since 2019.

Early in her career, Danielle worked as a behavior technician at The Vista School, supporting adults with autism in both classroom and community settings. The program included a mock apartment where she assisted individuals in learning functional living skills such as cooking, laundry, and other daily routines that promote independence. Danielle also supported adults in community-based vocational experiences, providing task analysis, visual supports, prompting, and chaining procedures to help them build job-related skills in real-world settings.

While pursuing her Regents Bachelor of Arts at Fairmont State University, Danielle worked at a children’s therapeutic center and was placed in a deaf education classroom, sparking her lasting passion for communication support. She also earned an associate degree in Deaf Interpreting, completing both degrees in 2005. Her experience with American Sign Language continues to influence her communication-first approach.

While living in California, Danielle assisted in creating and running a preschool for children with autism, developing routines, individualized supports, and a communication-focused curriculum.

Danielle earned her master of education in foundations in behavioral analysis from the University of Cincinnati and is a board certified and licensed behavior analyst. She is QBS Safety Care certified and trained in functional behavior assessment, with a focus on replacing challenging behaviors with meaningful, functional skills. She is also certified in adult and pediatric first aid, CPR, and AED, ensuring safe and reliable support across home and community environments.

Her experience spans in-home, clinic, school based, and community settings, allowing her to support skill development and generalization in real-world environments. At Unique Steps ABA, Danielle provides direct one-on-one therapy and guidance for caregivers and support teams. Her approach emphasizes functional communication, including vocal language, American Sign Language, and collaboration with licensed speech-language pathologists when PECS or AAC systems are used. This ensures all communication goals remain within scope and aligned with best practices.

Danielle is committed to culturally responsive, family-centered care. She partners with individuals and families to support meaningful progress, stronger connections, and continued growth across daily life.
